Welfare Rights Centre SA Defunded

As most of you would have heard, the Welfare Rights Centre SA was advised on Friday 26 May late afternoon that we will be defunded, along with 2 regional community legal centres. This means that, unless we hear otherwise, the Welfare Rights Centre SA will be closing its doors on 30 June 2017.

The Welfare Rights Centre has been providing free legal advice and representative to clients facing Centrelink issues for over 30 years. We are the only community legal centre that specialises in this area. We also run the Housing Legal Clinic which provides pro-bono legal advice to homeless, at risk of homelessness and low income earners at various homelessness day centres and emergency assistances centres throughout Adelaide. We have Duty Solicitor programs that assist clients at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal as well as outreach programs which travel to regional areas and the APY Lands.

We have 4 weeks to convince the State Government that the decision to defund the Welfare Rights Centre SA is wrong.

You can also contact your local and Federal Members of Parliament to express your support.

Thank you for all your help throughout the years.
