Financial Counsellors - Lutheran Community Care (several positions)

Lutheran Community Care currently has several vacancies within the Financial Counselling program.  Please see attached a job descriptions for the roles of Senior Financial Counsellor and Financial Counsellor, all based at various sites in Adelaide.

The Financial Counselling team supports people in personal financial difficulty to address their financial concerns, make informed choices and develop their capacity to manage their money.  They provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues.  It is essential to hold a Diploma of Community Service (Financial Counselling) and be eligible to become a member of South Australian Financial Counsellors Association for these roles.

Senior Financial Counsellor

FTE 0.6, based at Blair Athol
This is a short-term higher duties position for approximately 3 months
The key responsibilities for this role are:
Providing supervision to the Financial Counselling (SA based)
Ensure service agreement reporting requirements are met including collection, analysis and reporting of program data
In consultation with the Manager, plan and monitor workloads to maintain a high standard of service delivery and meet KPI's
Provide program induction and support of new team members.

Financial Counsellor

Various part-time roles/locations
LCC has a 12 month contract to provide a Bushfire Response Financial Counselling Service based out of Lobethal.  Initially it is for 2 days per week, reducing to 1 day per week after 3 months.
LCC also has available up to 3 days per week delivering Financial Counselling services at various outreach sites in Northern Adelaide
The key responsibilities are:
Provide high level and confidential financial counselling to clients
Work collaboratively with volunteer Budget Counsellors who through education and preparation of individual budget will assist clients to overcome financial barriers
Provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues
Refer clients where appropriate to other services as needed
Provide community education and build resilience for vulnerable people

You will require a Working With Children Check and while the positions are office based, travel to other locations to provide services or for intra and interagency meetings may be required from time to time. You must hold a current and unrestricted South Australian Drivers Licence and possess a registered roadworthy vehicle available for work use (employees reimbursed for work travel).

Intake Worker - Financial Counselling Services - Lutheran Community Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the SA based Financial Counselling service.  A new Intake Worker role has been created and we are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic person to grow into the role and make it their own.

The Financial Counselling team supports people in personal financial difficulty to address their financial concerns, make informed choices and develop their capacity to manage their money.  They provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues.  The Intake Worker will become the initial point of contact for clients, providing a well organised intake and assessment service. Training and support will be provided to the successful applicant.  For more information about the role please see the attached Job Description.

The Intake Worker will:
Engage with clients in a warm, friendly and empathetic manner
Be able to plan, organise and prioritise work to meet relevant KPI's
Have the ability to make thoughtful decisions and solve problems
Assess the client's needs, schedule appointments, identify and provide referrals to other services as required
Work collaboratively with the financial counselling team to ensure cohesive service provision
Complete a range of administrative tasks that support the Financial Counselling service

This part-time role is classified at LCC Level 3 and you must be available to work 15 hours per week over 5 days.  Ideally this would be 3 hours per day.  Although initially funded to 30th June 2020 while we monitor the effectiveness of this new strategy, we are hopeful the role will be ongoing and further contract extensions may be available.
