Financial Counsellors - Lutheran Community Care (several positions)

Lutheran Community Care (LCC) provides community services on behalf of the Lutheran Church in South Australia and Northern Territory through a range of programs. We support communities through responding to the needs of individuals and families, community development, learning opportunities, accommodation and support. Current programs include emergency relief, financial counselling, family support and education, foster care, housing and family shelter, and refugee services. Financial Counsellor Level 4 - Alice Springs

Please see attached a position for the role of Financial Counsellor, based in Alice Springs.

In Central Australia, LCC provide a financial literacy program, emergency relief, financial counselling and playgroups in Alice Springs as well as providing an Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) at Ntaria (Hermannsburg).

Working from our Alice Springs site you will provide a professional Financial Counselling service to help people in personal financial difficulty address their financial problems and make informed choices.

You will;

  • Provide high level and confidential financial counselling to clients
  • Provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues
  • Refer clients where appropriate to other services as needed
  • Provide community education and build resilience for vulnerable people
  • Undertake extensive travel throughout Central Australia with overnight stays in a range of accommodation.  Some travel may require driving a 4WD vehicle over large distances

It is essential to hold a Diploma of Community Service (Financial Counselling) and be eligible to become a member of South Australian Financial Counsellors Association for this role. You will also require a National Police Clearance, an NT Ochre Card for working with children and young people and a current and unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.  Please refer to the Job Description for all the duties and responsibilities.

Financial Counsellor - based in North Adelaide

Lutheran Community Care (LCC) is seeking a part time Financial Counsellor to be an integral part of our Financial Counselling team.

Northern Suburbs Adelaide 
LCC Level 4,  0.8 position

The Financial Counselling team supports people in personal financial difficulty to address their financial concerns, make informed choices and develop their capacity to manage their money.  They provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues.  It is essential to hold a Diploma of Community Service (Financial Counselling) and be eligible to become a member of South Australian Financial Counsellors Association for this role.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Provide high level and confidential financial counselling to clients
  • Provide advocacy and accurate information regarding financial rights, responsibilities, debt management legislation, credit regulations and consumer finance issues
  • Refer clients where appropriate to other services as needed
  • Provide community education and build resilience for vulnerable people
You will require a Working With Children Check and while the position is office based, travel to other locations to provide services or for intra and interagency meetings may be required from time to time. You must hold a current and unrestricted South Australian Drivers Licence and possess a registered roadworthy vehicle available for work use (employees reimbursed for work travel).
