More Options for AFSA's Online Bankruptcy Process

Written on the 24 March 2021 by ACA

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) has established an online bankruptcy process that allows financial counsellors to download a bankruptcy form from the Toolkit for a client to complete.

AFSA also introduced a process for financial counsellors to submit bankruptcy forms and temporary debt protection forms for people who can't meet in person or access a physical copy of the form, where the counsellor agrees to complete the form on their behalf.

They will accept bankruptcy forms and temporary debt protection forms for assessment, without the signature of the applicant and without the declaration of an authorised witness who has sighted their ID, provided the form is submitted by:

  • A registered financial counsellor.
  • From their professional email address.
  • Using the required email template.

The forms must be emailed to finc@afsa.gov.au.

Instructions for completing the forms and the email template that must be used can be found on the bankruptcy page of the FCA Toolkit page.
